Halcrow Foundation has supported a range of healthcare projects at the Savera Association medical centre in Delhi, which provides vital services to some of the poorest people in the world.

Savera Association is a non governmental organisation that improves the lives of people living in slum areas in the city through healthcare and education. We first supported the organisation in 2011, when we stepped in to meet a funding shortfall for medical care for 150,000 residents living in five slum areas in Eastern Delhi.

Regular, reliable healthcare

Since then, Halcrow Foundation funds have helped buy medicines and covered the costs of doctors’ salaries. Medicines are supplied at a highly subsidised rate to patients who cannot afford to pay the full cost, ensuring regular and reliable healthcare for a large and very poor community. Doctors work alongside trained nurses at the centre, and funding their salaries allows the centre to improve and expand its medical services.

Mobile clinics

The medical centre also provides outpatient medical facilities, mostly for women and children. The doctors and nurses, who work on both a paid and voluntary basis, see more than 2,500 patients per month.  Dental, gynaecological, ophthalmic and other clinics are available both at the centre and through mobile vans that visit patients at home.
