Happy birthday to us! Since 2005, we have awarded more than £3 million in grants, funding 171 grassroots projects that improve lives in Africa, Asia and the UK.

We have worked with 86 trusted delivery partners to fund the building of health centres and school classrooms, and improve access to clean water and sanitation. Nearly £1 million has been spent on projects boosting health and welfare, and another £1 million on income security programmes. We’re particularly proud of our programmes that empower women, enabling them to set up and run their own businesses so they can access healthcare and education, and make a brighter future for their families.

Building resilience

We’ve also spent more than £600,000 on funding learning centres, classrooms and training programmes for children and young people, helping to break the cycle of poverty through education. And by promoting sustainable farming methods, we’re helping communities improve food security and build resilience against climate change.

Honouring Halcrow’s legacy

Over the last 20 years, Halcrow Foundation funds have directly benefited more than 200,000 people, with an estimated 500,000 family and community members benefitting indirectly. However, this is about more than numbers. “It’s about dignity, opportunity and lasting change,” explains Halcrow Foundation’s chair of trustees, David Kerr. “Giving people the tools to lift themselves out of poverty and build a better future is the best way we can honour Halcrow’s legacy and continue to make a difference where it’s needed most.”
